Black Myth Wukong, Ruyi's Golden Hoop (Official License)
Black Myth: Goku is an action role-playing game with a single-player mode and a third-person perspective. Although there was some discussion prior to the game's release as to whether or not it belonged in the Souls genre, the developers, GameScience, did not consider it to be a Souls game, although some elements are similar, and many reviewers have suggested that the game does not fully fit the definition of a Souls game.
The game is inspired by one of China's Four Great Masterpieces, the classical novel Journey to the West, and puts the player in control of an ape from the Mountain of Flowers and Fruits named “Heaven's Destiny Man”. The main weapon of the protagonist is the Golden Hoop Stick, which can be used in battle. The game's combat system consists of three main stick styles: Chopping Stick, Poking Stick, and Standing Stick, which provide a variety of options for combat. Combat also involves resource management, and when the meter is full, the player can accumulate “focus points” that can be used for combos or power-ups. Dashing, dodging, and attacking all consume chakra.[12][13][14] The player can also use up “focus points” when the meter is full.
In addition to physical combat, players can also use four types of spells: “Magic”, “Stance”, “Hair”, and “Change”. These four types of spells are used in physical combat. These spells have a cooldown and consume mana. These spells can be further subdivided according to their skills, such as: “Fixed Body”, which can freeze the enemy for a short period of time; “Gathering Form and Dispersing Qi”, which can leave behind a fake body in order to disperse the Qi and escape, and then attack again when it gathers its form; and the “Hair” spell, which is “Outside Body”.[15] The “Hair” spell can also be used to change a person's appearance. The “Out of Body” spell can summon multiple doppelgangers to assist in battle, while the “Change” spell allows the protagonist to transform into a variety of creatures with unique moves and life values. Additionally, players can defeat powerful enemies to gain “spirit” skills, which are similar to one-time transformations; for example, the “ghost” spirit can perform a head-hammer attack.
The game progresses in a mostly linear fashion, with wide areas to explore. The player encounters various demonic leaders as enemies. The player's checkpoints are shrines (land temples) around the world. The game map cannot be adjusted by the player, but will change as the game progresses.
Take the Golden Hoop of Ruyi in your hand and become a man of destiny!
